Painter Lead
Painter Lead is responsible for leading painting operations and applying high-quality paint
finishes to a wide range of parts and assemblies. This role requires hands-on expertise in paint
preparation, application, and curing processes, as well as oversight of workflow, safety, and
quality standards.
Key Performance Deliverables
• Prepare and clean surfaces by sanding, wiping, and applying appropriate solvent
treatments.
• Mask and protect surfaces as required for painting.
• Load and off-load parts onto and from paint racks safely.
• Mix and prepare primers and paints per manufacturers’ specifications, including gloss,
semi-gloss, and flat finishes.
• Verify proper surface treatment and preparation prior to painting.
• Apply primer and paint by spray equipment on parts of varying sizes, shapes, and
contours.
• Operate curing ovens; monitor temperature and cycle times to ensure proper curing.
• Perform visual inspections on painted parts to ensure compliance with quality standards.
• Clean and maintain paint booth equipment, including spray guns, filters, and related
apparatus.
• Lead by example, driving continuous improvement in production processes and quality
control.
• Ensure adherence to company policies, procedures, safety regulations, and quality system
requirements.
• Promote and maintain a safe, clean, and organized work environment.
• Provide guidance and support to team members, ensuring efficient workflow and task
completion.
Requirements
• 5–10 years of experience in a paint shop environment, preferably within the aerospace or
automotive industry.
• Strong attention to detail and a high standard for quality.
• Demonstrated ability to mix and prepare a variety of paint and primer formulations.
• Basic understanding of blueprints, engineering drawings, and work order documentation.
• Ability to pass a respiratory fit test and pulmonary function test, if required.
• Capable of lifting up to 40 lbs.
• Leadership ability to support, guide, and train team members while ensuring production
goals are met.
Preferred Qualifications
• Experience with powder coating processes and equipment.
• Knowledge of environmental, health, and safety regulations related to paint shop
operations.
• Familiarity with lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices.
• Previous supervisory or lead experience in a production environment.
• Proficiency in using inspection tools and equipment to verify coating thickness and
quality.
Schedule: M-F 7am-3:30pm OT available.
