POSITION TITLE: Middle School Classroom Teacher
SUPERVISOR: Building Principal
QUALIFICATIONS:
New Hampshire DOE Middle School teaching certification.
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Middle School Education or a related discipline applicable to the teaching assignment.
Master's Degree in a related area preferred.
One to three years of successful prior teaching experience for the appropriate grade levels is preferred.
SUMMARY: Serving grades 5-8 under the general supervision of the School Principal, this role facilitates student success and growth in academic and interpersonal skills by implementing district-approved curriculum, documenting student progress, addressing specific educational needs, and creating a safe, optimal learning environment.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Knowledge of current teaching methods and educational pedagogy, as well as differentiating instruction based upon student learning styles.
Knowledge of Middle School curriculum and concepts, including all subject matters taught.
Knowledge of data information systems, data analysis, and the formulation of action plans.
Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
Ability to use computer network systems and software applications as needed.
Ability to organize and coordinate work and communicate effectively with students and parents.
Ability to engage in self-evaluation regarding performance and professional growth.
Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with others.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Develops and administers school curriculum consistent with school district initiatives, goals, and objectives.
Promotes a classroom environment that is safe and conducive to individualized and small group instruction.
Translates lesson plans into learning experiences to best utilize available instructional time.
Teaches all required subject matters assigned to the grade level (e.g., reading, language arts, social studies, mathematics, science, art, health, physical education, and music).
Conducts ongoing assessment of student learning and modifies instructional methods to fit individual needs.
Reviews and implements IEP and 504 plans for caseload students.
Encourages parental involvement and ensures effective communication with students and parents.
Ensures student conduct conforms with school standards and district policies.
Coordinates with other professional staff members to evaluate curriculum and participates in faculty meetings.
Selects and requisitions appropriate books, instructional aids, and supplies.
Supervises students in activities outside the classroom, including school transportation.
Instructs students in the principles of responsible citizenship and administrative regulations.
Maintains a system for accurate and complete record-keeping and grading.
Administers standardized tests in accordance with District testing programs.
Performs other position-related tasks as assigned by the Principal or Central Office administrators.
