General Job Description
Take the lead on the design of sensor systems for Artificial Lift. Working at the heart of a multidisciplinary team (electrical, mechanical, firmware, software), the work covers the design of downhole tools for the oil and gas industry and their associated surface equipment. It will involve establishing new technologies, best practices that prioritize reliability, and ensuring the highest standards in design verification.
Overall Characteristics
In this role, the engineer will be a key contributor for product roadmap definition, and technology selection of downhole sensors and associated assemblies.
They use creativity and mature judgment in developing new products and solving complex electrical and mechanical engineering problems.
They make decisions and recommendations that have an important impact on organizational objectives.
Their ability to collaborate in multi-disciplinary teams and work on multiple projects of moderate size and scope will be key. They design and conduct advanced experiments, as well as analyze and interpret the data. They formulate and solve problems with minimal consultation. They prepare complete project documentation (e.g. specifications, part drawings, product assemblies, project schedules, etc.)
They receive minimal supervision and guidance in achieving overall project objectives and goals. They work independently and with other groups to analyze and solve critical issues.
Prerequisite
- MS degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited university
- Minimum 10 years of Sustaining or New Product Development experience for downhole electrical/electromechanical tools
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in technical team leadership or project management
- Demonstrated expertise in electronics, microcontrollers and embedded programing
- Experience with the design of electronic systems including proficiency in the use of software for simulation (PSpice, Multisim, LTSpice...) and electrical drafting (Altium, PADS, Mentor Xpedition…)
- Excellent troubleshooting and root cause analysis skills.
Great Additions:
1. Experience or knowledge of mechanical design and mechanical drafting software (Creo, Autocad…)
2. Experience developing power systems and/or electromagnetic components (power supplies, transformers, inductors, filters, electric motors).
3. Experience with Electrical Submersible Pump systems
4. Experience in the overall Artificial Lift domain
5. Experience working in multicultural teams and across different time-zones
