JOB SUMMARY
This individual is responsible for performing an extensive number of data-collection functions, as delegated by the physician, to allow for proper, professional diagnosis of patients’ conditions. Under supervision, this individual also fits contact lens and fills contact lens prescriptions. This position may travel to all Graystone Eye locations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
- Stacks, straightens, and cleans stock room as necessary.
- Evaluates contact lens prescription in conjunctions with patient’s needs and lifestyle.
- Recommends specific contact lenses to suit patient’s needs.
- With supervision, takes corneal measurements using various instruments including but not limited to keratometer and topography.
- With supervision, prepares paperwork and lens for order for contact lenses.
- Under supervision, using a slit lamp, verifies the fit of contact lenses.
- Instructs patients on the insertion, removal, and care of contact lenses.
- Recommends other optical products to patients.
- Under supervision, able to assess the patient’s visual problem.
- Computes amount of sale.

- If not certified, must have the ability to prepare for and obtain NCLE certification within 12 months of employment.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
- High School education
- Optical-related experience preferred.
