Make life better for members and customers!

At Blue Ridge Energy, every conversation is an opportunity to make a difference. As a Contact Center Energy Specialist, you’ll do more than answer questions or process service requests. You’ll get to know our members and customers, understand what they need, and connect them with products, services, and energy solutions that can make their lives better.

This is a great opportunity for a customer-focused professional who enjoys building relationships, solving problems, and helping people find the right solution. If you’re a strong communicator who can listen, think on your feet, and confidently recommend products and services without being pushy, we’d love to hear from you.

What You’ll Do

In this role, you’ll:

  • Create a superior service experience with every member and customer interaction.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor by asking questions, understanding needs, and recommending appropriate energy solutions.
  • Analyze energy usage and identify opportunities to provide value through Blue Ridge Energy products and services.
  • Help coordinate energy services and support the growth of our member/customer base.
  • Coordinate, prepare, and obtain all required documentation for new electrical service installations, including easements, underground service agreements, and other necessary approvals.
  • Analyze energy usage and identify opportunities and energy solutions to help the member/customer through an array of products and services.
  • Set up new accounts, process payments, and assist customers with service needs.
  • Handle requests such as disconnects, reconnects, name changes, and propane/fuel orders.
  • Promote convenient self-service and automated payment options.
  • Support participation in Operation Round Up.
  • Assist members and customers with sustainable energy solutions using available information and data.
  • Contribute to product pilots and share knowledge and ideas with the team.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and communicate suggestions that help us meet or exceed our WorkSmart goals.
  • Serve as an on-call specialist on a rotational basis.
  • Work collaboratively across the organization while representing Blue Ridge Energy’s core values in everything you do.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone who is confident, service-minded, and motivated to help others.

The ideal candidate will have:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent; some college is preferred.
  • At least three years of customer service or other experience working with the public.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong technology skills and the ability to learn new systems quickly.
  • Strong sales, closing, and follow-up skills.
  • Exceptional member/customer service skills.
  • Active listening and problem-solving abilities.
  • An interest in sustainability, energy efficiency, products, and services.
  • Strong mathematical skills and a workable knowledge of accounting practices.
  • The ability to be assertive and persuasive while maintaining a positive, helpful approach.
  • The ability to work independently, produce high-quality results, and contribute as part of a team.
  • A valid driver's license.

Why This Role Matters

Every day, you’ll have the opportunity to turn a question into a solution, a service interaction into a positive experience, and a customer need into real value. You’ll play an important role in helping Blue Ridge Energy deliver exceptional member service while connecting our customers with energy solutions that meet their needs.

Normal hours are Monday–Friday, 8:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m., with flexible hours potentially required based on call volume, outages, and business needs. This position is located within the Blue Ridge Energy service area and requires residency within a 30-minute drive of the assigned workplace.
