About the Opportunity
Graystone Group is supporting a rapidly growing defense technology company seeking Forward Deployed Engineers to implement and support a mission-critical Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) platform within Department of Defense environments.
This is a highly customer-facing engineering role where you'll become the trusted technical resource embedded alongside government customers, ensuring successful software deployments, ongoing operational support, and long-term platform adoption.
Position Overview
As a Forward Deployed Engineer (Implementation Engineer), you will lead the deployment, implementation, and operational support of a modern ICAM platform within secure customer environments. You'll work directly with customer stakeholders to install, configure, troubleshoot, and optimize the platform while serving as the primary onsite technical point of contact.
This role combines Linux systems administration, software implementation, customer engagement, and technical problem-solving. You'll spend the majority of your time supporting customers onsite, onboarding new users, resolving technical issues, and ensuring the platform operates effectively in mission-critical environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Deploy, install, configure, and implement enterprise ICAM software within customer environments.
- Serve as the primary onsite technical representative supporting customer organizations.
- Troubleshoot software, infrastructure, and system integration issues across Linux-based environments.
- Configure and maintain application settings, integrations, and user access.
- Onboard new users and provide technical guidance and training on platform functionality.
- Work closely with customer IT teams to resolve operational and technical challenges.
- Support software upgrades, patches, and ongoing platform maintenance.
- Collaborate with internal engineering and product teams to resolve complex technical issues.
- Document implementation activities, system configurations, and customer environments.
- Travel to customer locations as needed to support deployments and implementation projects.
Qualifications
Required
- Active Secret Clearance preferred (exceptional candidates without a clearance will be considered).
- Experience implementing, deploying, or supporting enterprise software solutions.
- Strong Linux administration experience.
- Experience troubleshooting production systems in customer environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work directly with customers.
- Comfortable working independently in onsite customer-facing environments.
- Ability to travel for customer implementations, including one extended engagement of approximately five weeks annually.
Preferred
- Experience with Identity, Credential, and Access Management (ICAM) solutions.
- Experience with Kubernetes and/or Docker.
- Experience supporting Department of Defense or other federal government customers.
- Experience with authentication, identity management, or cybersecurity technologies.
Work Environment
- Primarily onsite supporting customers in either:
- Colorado Springs, Colorado
- Honolulu, Hawaii
- Most weeks require 3–5 days onsite, although some weeks may require less onsite presence depending on customer needs.
- Periodic travel to additional customer locations.
Salary : $150,000 - $200,000
