Position Summary
The Assistant Vice President, Financial Planning & Analysis is a senior financial leader responsible for driving strategic initiatives, ensuring operational excellence, and overseeing daily financial functions. This role manages and develops a team of finance professionals, providing mentorship and guidance while fostering a culture built on integrity, accountability, teamwork, leadership, and passion.
In addition, the Assistant Vice President, Investment Accounting oversees all investment accounting activities. This includes managing the investment data warehouse, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and leading compliance and assurance functions. Acting as both a strategist and trusted advisor, this leader provides timely, reliable financial insights that support effective decision-making and the organization’s long-term success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop high-performing teams in Financial Planning & Analysis and Investment Accounting, including recruitment, training, performance management, and employee engagement.
- Collaborate with business leaders across functions to align financial strategies with organizational goals and operational priorities.
- Deliver accurate and timely investment portfolio reporting, including STAT and GAAP financial statements, earnings reports, and specialized reporting for senior leadership, regulators, and rating agencies.
- Oversee all investment accounting functions such as trade activity recording, monthly portfolio earnings, reinsurance computations, IMR and AVR maintenance, and general ledger entries across multiple entities.
- Manage and enhance the investment data warehouse to ensure accurate, efficient, and timely financial reporting.
- Provide compliance and regulatory guidance for investment activities, ensuring adherence to industry standards and evolving requirements.
- Lead and support audits with regulators, internal stakeholders, and external auditors.
- Develop and implement new investment accounting reports and portfolios to support special projects and business initiatives.
- Stay current with accounting standards and industry developments, applying insights to strengthen reporting and compliance practices.
- Inspire, coach, and mentor staff to consistently deliver excellent service and achieve departmental objectives.
