Financial Aid Advisor II:
Serves as the secondary Financial Aid representative of Grayson College through outreach activities both on and off campus, as well as community events. Advises students and parents with the financial aid process from inquiries to disbursement of funds.
The salary range for this position is $18.69 to $28.03 per hour.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
- 25% Manages federal and state Work-Study programs; This includes, but is not limited to, processing work-study applications and determining eligibility, recording pay on a bi-weekly basis, and maintaining work study files.
- 15% Markets Financial Aid services by attending a variety of on campus, off campus, High School, and community events. Regular travel to area high schools for outreach events.
- 15% Processes paper and electronic documents and make necessary FAFSA data corrections in order to complete verification and award aid. Process incoming loan request forms and change requests.
- 15% Assists students, parents, and college staff with complex or escalated financial aid inquiries, application challenges, and aid concerns in person, by telephone, or other electronic means.
- 10% Award institutional financial aid, including tuition waivers and exemptions to students.
- 10% Annual review and update of email templates, institutional forms, and outreach projects for prospective and returning students. Responsible for sending electronic mass departmental communications to students and/or parents.
- 5% Attends federal and/or state Financial Aid training, workshops, seminars, and conferences in order to maintain current knowledge of financial aid requirements and regulations.
- 5% Performs other duties as assigned

Qualifications:
- Experience: Six months to two years of similar or related experience.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Interpersonal Skills: Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college for the purpose of giving or obtaining information, building relationships, or soliciting cooperation.
- Other Skills: One to two years of experience in financial aid or related field is preferred. Decision-making, problem-solving and attention to detail are a must. Strong interpersonal, customer service, communication, and presentation skills are also required. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to learn new applications as needed to complete work assignments.
- Physical Requirements: The work is typically sedentary. However, there may be some walking, standing, bending, carrying of light items, driving an automobile, etc. No special physical demands are required to do the work.
- Work Environment: Regular exposure to favorable conditions such as those found in a typical office.
