Grays Tree Service is seeking a motivated and experienced Production Manager / Field Supervisor to lead and oversee daily operations in the field. This position is ideal for a hands-on leader with extensive tree climbing experience who thrives training teams, collaborating across departments, and helping drive operational and revenue success. This role plays a critical part in ensuring client satisfaction, safety compliance, and company policy enforcement while staying directly engaged in day-to-day fieldwork.
Key Responsibilities
- Train and supervise production teams, including climbers, equipment operators and ground workers.
- Motivate production teams to achieve daily production goals.
- Lead daily field operations, including dispatch and logistics.
- Oversee quality control to ensure all work is performed to safety standards.
- Conduct job site safety briefings and enforce industry standards.
- Deliver in-the-field training in climbing, equipment use and general arboriculture practices.
- Coordinate job execution through collaboration with Sales and Admin departments.
- Communicate clearly and effectively with all team members across all departments.
- Track daily job progress and ensure production goals align with company revenue targets.
- Optimize team and equipment utilization to increase productivity.
- Oversee policies and procedures to ensure internal training and development is prioritized.
Policy and Compliance:
- Ensure adherence to company policies and industry safety standards.
- Address employee issues and safety violations professionally and in a timely manner.
Qualifications
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of experience in tree care, including climbing, rigging and equipment operation.
- Prior experience managing or supervising field crews.
- Strong working knowledge of arboriculture techniques and equipment.
- Proven ability to lead, train, and inspire teams in a fast-paced environment.
- Familiarity with job costing and revenue tracking.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
- Background in CRM usage paired with technical troubleshooting or system integration.
- Valid drivers license required, with ability to obtain class B CDL preferred.
- ISA Certified Arborist and / or TCIA CTSP certification is a plus.
