Position Overview
The Heavy Equipment Operator will safely and efficiently operate heavy machinery associated with environmental service projects for GrayMar clients at field locations.
Key Responsibilities
- Operate heavy equipment proficiently, productively, and in compliance with the company operating safety policies and procedures.
- Operate equipment that may include forklifts, excavators, bulldozers, front-end loaders, wheeled and track skid steers, backhoes, compaction equipment, and additional heavy equipment.
- Ensure Health and Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and always acting in a safe manner.
- Follow appropriate standard operating procedures as guideline for operating and maintaining company vehicles.
- Work with hazardous and non-hazardous soils and substances in proper PPE while operating heavy equipment.
- Grease and maintain equipment.
- Load and unload heavy equipment on trailers.
- Participate in a drug-free workplace with a random drug testing program.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Desired Qualifications
- Strong work ethic with a safety-first mindset.
- Ability to work independently or part of a team while managing multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Rough and fine grading.
- Sloping, benching, and certified compaction.
- High production truck loading.
- Mass excavation.
Education and Experience Required
- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent required.
- 5 years of heavy equipment operation and maintenance experience.
- 5 years of experience operating excavators, bulldozers, loaders, and backhoes.
- Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record, commercial class A driver’s license preferred.
- 40-hr OSHA HAZWOPER with current 8-hr refresher preferred.
Other Requirements
- Must pass drug screening and criminal background check.
- Safety oriented mindset with the determination to follow all procedures and policies.
- Prolonged periods of operating heavy machinery.
- Able to work long periods including evenings and weekends when necessary.
- Must be able to operate machinery in all weather conditions and terrains.
- Must be able to lift 25 pounds at a time.
