What are the responsibilities and job description for the Veterinary Technician Assistant position at Grateful Heart Veterinary Hospital?
Grateful Heart Veterinary Hospital is an independently owned, small animal practice seeking an experienced Tech Assistant to join our team.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Veterinarians and CVT’s with examinations, treatments, and procedures.
- Obtain thorough patient medical history from clients and referring veterinarians as needed.
- Educating clients on pet health, preventative care, and post treatment instructions.
- Obtaining and preparing various lab samples including urine, blood and feces for diagnostic testing.
- Support a positive work environment that is focused on collaboration, teamwork, professionalism, and provide compassionate and efficient care to patients.
- Support hospital organization and patient care workflow.
Qualification Requirements/Skills:
- Must have a minimum of 1 year experience in vet med. (required).
- Knowledge of veterinary terminology and basic veterinary medical procedures.
- Able to lift and move up to 40 pounds.
- Comfortable standing for long periods of time and performing physical tasks.
- Experience with EzyVet software is a plus (not required).
- Administer injectable and oral medications and vaccines with supervision under the direction of a veterinarian.
- Demonstrate proficiency in typing and basic computer skills.
- Experience with animal handling/restraint.
- Demonstrate dependability, professionalism, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ensure the completion of all assigned hospital duties before the end of each shift.
- Adhere to OSHA standards and regulations as outlined in company policies. Ability to perform other job duties as assigned.
