What are the responsibilities and job description for the Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner position at Grant Community School-Based Health Center?
Position:
Winn Community Health Center is seeking a Full-time Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner to diagnose, treat, manage, and help prevent disorders of the mind for patients.
Job duties:
1) Analyze and evaluate patient information and test or examine data to diagnose nature and degree of mental illness.
2) Prescribe, and administer psychotherapeutic treatments or psychotropic medications to treat emotional, mental, or behavioral disorders.
3) Work together with primary care providers, behavioral health consultants, psychiatric nurses, and/or other professionals to confer treatment plans and progress in an integrated health setting.
4) Collect and preserve patient data and records, utilizing an electronic health record (EHR), including social and medical history acquired from patients, relatives, and other professionals per HIPPA Standards.
5) Advise patients treatment goals during office visits.
6) Develop individualized care plans, using an assortment of treatments.
7) Order and examine laboratory and/or diagnostic tests on patient to provide data on general physical condition and mental disorder.
8) Advise and notify guardians, relatives, and significant others of patients' conditions and treatment as directed by HIPPA standards & compliance laws.
9) Review and evaluate treatment processes and outcomes of other psychiatrists and medical professionals.
10) Follow professional and ethical guidelines, best practice evidence-based approaches and HIPPA standards and compliance.
- Applicants must have completed all educational requirements particular to their field of study to obtain the necessary degrees, licensures, and credentials to practice psychiatric medicine within The State of Louisiana.
Licensure: Applicants must have credentials & certifications recognized by The State of Louisiana of either a Psychiatrist (MD,DO), a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP), or a PhD Medical Psychologist (PhD MP) to practice psychiatric medicine.
Work Experience: A minimum experience of practicing psychiatric medicine in a mental health setting is not required (newly graduated students welcome). 2 years of practicing psychiatric medicine in a mental health setting & experience working within a Federally Qualified Health Center is preferred.
