Overview
We are seeking a Bilingual Administrative Medical Assistant to join our compassionate team. This energetic role offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of individuals with autism by providing exceptional administrative support within our community-focused organization. The ideal candidate will be fluent in both English and Spanish, possess strong medical administrative skills, and have experience working in diverse healthcare settings.

Duties

  • · Collaborate with healthcare staff to ensure coordinated patient care.
  • Prepare patients for exams, take vital signs, update charts, and record medical history.
  • Set up and sanitize exam rooms; dispose of contaminated materials.
  • Schedule follow-up appointments.
  • Handle phone calls, patient inquiries, and message relays.
  • Process prescription refills and secure prior authorizations.
  • Submit requests for internal and external referrals.
  • Manage inventory and stocking supplies.
  • Perform clerical tasks like filing, copying, and faxing.
  • Translate and interpret for medical providers and patients during appointments.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • · High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a certified medical assistant program.
  • Current certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) or the ability to obtain the designation within 90 days of employment.· Proficient in EHR systems and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology, pharmacology, and office procedures.
  • Familiar with HIPAA, CLIA, and OSHA regulations.
  • Understanding of sterilization, disinfection, and medical assistant best practices.
  • Skilled in-patient communication, data collection, and problem-solving.
  • Able to interpret safety rules, manuals, and procedures.
  • Strong verbal, written, and customer service skills.
  • Knowledge of safety practices and response to workplace hazards.
  • Ability to apply medical assistant techniques for patient care.
  • Detail-oriented with one year of experience in an administrative setting.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish is required.

Physical Requirements

  • May include standing, sitting, and/or walking for extended periods
  • May include performing repetitive tasks
  • May include working on a special schedule (i.e. evenings and weekends with clients)
  • May include working with challenging patients and clients
  • May include lifting up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to use logic reasoning for simple and complex problem solving.
  • Occasionally requires exposure to communicable diseases or bodily fluids.
