JEFFERSON & KEARNS JUNIOR HIGH SCHOOLS – INSTRUCTIONAL COACH - (1.0 FTE) Must be current Granite School District teacher to apply for this opening
This position will be split between Jefferson Junior High and Kearns Junior High. The candidate will spend half of their contract at each school.
The Instructional Coach, having expertise in the areas of: classroom instruction, instructional coaching, adult learning theory, and organizational change, will work as a colleague with classroom teachers to support student learning and teacher practice. The Instructional Coach will focus on individual and group professional learning that will expand and refine the understanding of researched-based effective instruction for teachers. In order to meet this purpose, the Instructional Coach will provide personalized, 1-to-1 teacher support based on goals that will increase student achievement.
Essential Functions:
1. Provide non-evaluative feedback to teachers based on observed classroom practice
2. Provide support in analyzing student assessment data
3. Assist teachers with instructional decisions based on assessment data when appropriate
4. Assist teachers with specific classroom strategies when appropriate
5. Provide support for classroom engagement and management
6. Assist teachers in creating materials that are aligned with the Utah Core Curriculum
7. Model effective, differentiated instruction when appropriate
8. Manage time and schedule flexibility to maximize teacher schedules and learning
9. Work positively toward meeting identified district and building improvement goals
10. Develop and maintain a confidential, collegial relationship with teachers
11. Participate fully in professional development for instructional coaches, including peer observations, professional research and reading, and inquiry sessions
12. Assist teachers in aligning teaching with appropriate standards, curriculum, and assessments
13. Work collaboratively and collegially with other instructional coaches, curriculum specialists, and district specialists

Requirements:
1. Current Utah Professional Teaching License, Utah Professional CTE License, or Utah Professional Special Education License required. No Associate Licenses (AEL) will be accepted for this position.
2. Minimum of five (5) years of successful teaching and/or coaching experience must be noted on either the applicants resume, and/or on the experience part of the Frontline application
3. Coaching Endorsement or willing to obtain within first 2 years of placement.
