- Manage customer relationships to retain and grow sales revenue
- Work with existing customers to sustain relationships and build a long-term, loyal book of business through exceptional service
- Drive customer retention by addressing concerns, resolving issues and preventing service cancellations
- Recognize and transition opportunities appropriately to the outside sales team
- Communicate with professionalism, positivity and respect in all interactions
- Utilize cold calling, relationship-building, contract negotiation, consultative selling and customer service techniques to gain new customers
- Take incoming calls for new service opportunities and view each call as a chance to grow the Granger customer base
- Follow up on previous unsuccessful sales calls to re-engage potential customers
- Close sales by applying negotiation and consultative selling techniques to identify customer needs and deliver solutions aligned with their goals
- Achieve communicated monthly and yearly sales goals
- Remain accountable to sales targets as outlined by the supervisor, supported by CRM tracking for assigned lists or book of work
- Use the CRM system to track activity, update sales goals, document customer interactions, manage leads and analyze sales performance
- Develop and maintain a thorough knowledge of all Granger services—including residential, commercial and industrial trash and recycling hauling; processing; transfer; and disposal—to ensure accurate information sharing and the creation of financially and operationally sound bids
- High school diploma or general education degree (GED) required
- Associate’s degree in business, customer management or related field preferred
- Two years of inside sales or business to business (B2B) sales experience required
- Proven success in selling services through cold calls, inbound leads and follow-ups
- Strong communication skills with ability to build rapport and close sales
- Proficient in CRM tools and Microsoft Office, including Excel, Outlook, OneNote and PowerPoint.
