Parking Attendant
Reports to: Parking & Logistics Manager
3-month position from August 1 to October 31, 2026
Hourly: Non-exempt
Position Summary
The Parking Attendant helps create a welcoming, safe, and organized experience for guests visiting Grandfather Mountain. This position is responsible for directing vehicles, assisting guests with parking and traffic flow, answering questions, and maintaining a safe and orderly parking area.
The ideal candidate is friendly, dependable, safety-minded, and comfortable working outdoors in changing weather conditions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Greeting guests in a friendly and professional manner.
- Direct vehicles to designated parking areas and available spaces.
- Provide guests with information and directions for the park and surrounding area.
- Communicate clearly with other parking attendants and park staff.
- Assist guests with accessibility needs and direct them to designated accessible parking areas.
- Help manage traffic during busy days, special events, and emergency situations.
- Keep parking areas and surrounding spaces free of litter and obvious hazards.
- Follow all safety procedures and Grandfather Mountain policies.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Must be dependable, punctual, and able to follow instructions.
- Excellent customer service and communication skills.
- Ability to remain calm and courteous in busy or stressful situations.
- Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
- Previous customer service, parking, traffic control, hospitality, or outdoor work experience is helpful but not required.
- Must be willing to work weekdays, weekends, holidays, and special events as scheduled.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Ability to work outdoors in heat, cold, rain, wind, and other changing mountain weather conditions.
- Ability to communicate verbally with guests and coworkers in an outdoor environment.
- Ability to safely work around moving vehicles and uneven terrain.
