What are the responsibilities and job description for the Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) position at Grande Ronde Hospital and Careers?
The Surgical First Assistant is responsible for the delivery of professional, safe and quality patient care within the operative suite. Under direct guidance and/ or supervision of the primary operative surgeon, assists in completing the operation safely and expeditiously by helping to provide exposure, maintain hemostatic and serve other technical functions. In addition, the Surgical First Assistant participates in the daily activities of the department as an active team member.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Education:
Completion of an accredited Surgical Assistant program required
Current Certification from:
CSFA - National Board of Surgical Technology and Surgical Assisting (NBSTSA)
American Heart Association BLS certification required
Work experience:
1 year of verifiable work experience as a Surgical First Assistant required
3 years of verifiable work experience as a Surgical First Assistant preferred
Previous verifiable work experience in an acute care facility operating room in collaboration with the surgical team preferred
Skills & Competencies:
Continuous training and education in new technology, equipment, instrumentation, and procedures.
Maintaining knowledge and skills to work with multiple surgical specialties and procedures.
Work collaboratively within a team setting.
Maintain composure in stressful situations.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Ability to walk or stand for up to 80% of scheduled work time.
Maintain physical demands of operating room practice, including but not limited to lifting 50 pounds maximum with frequent lifting or carrying of objects up to 25 pounds.
Maintain constant state of alert/readiness, to function and perform optimally in acute emergent situations.
Available for on-call rotation (outside of regular scheduled hours) to provide surgical assistance for elective, urgent, and emergent surgical cases.
