What are the responsibilities and job description for the Medical Assistant position at Grand River Rehabilitation?
We are seeking a full time Medical Assistant for a private practice in Grand Rapids, MI. As physiatrists (physical medicine & rehabilitation physician) our physicians specialize in the rehabilitation of medically complex patients, particularly children and those with chronic pain. The office pace is moderate but steady, with a practice model that targets high-complexity patients as opposed to high volume.
Responsibilities:
- Greets and registers the patient, ensures the patient completes all necessary forms, obtains demographic and insurance information, collects co-payment and adds or updates basic patient account information. Schedules new and follow-up patient appointments.
- Answers telephone and takes messages. Responds to patient queries and concerns in a professional manner and direct to appropriate staff member.
- Send referrals to appropriate sources. Obtain authorizations as needed.
- Escort patients to exam rooms, take vitals, perform drug tests, and chaperone as necessary.
- Work under guidance of office manager to follow departmental policies and procedures.
- Assist with the facility dogs.
