Job Summary
Grand Option Care is seeking dedicated and compassionate Male or Female Direct Support Professionals (DSP) to join our vibrant team. In this vital role, you will provide personalized care and support to individuals with developmental disabilities, cognitive impairments, and age-related conditions. Duties
- Assist residents with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility support
- Provide medication administration following prescribed protocols and ensure accurate documentation
- Support residents during meal preparation, feeding, and nutrition management
- Operate standard passenger vehicles safely for client outings or appointments
- Monitor vital signs such as blood pressure, pulse, and temperature to track health status
- Implement behavior management strategies tailored to individual needs, especially for those with dementia or Alzheimer's disease
- Use manual handling techniques and equipment like Hoyer lifts to ensure safe patient transfers
- Maintain a clean, safe environment by performing light housekeeping and adhering to infection control standards
- Document care activities accurately using electronic Medical Record (EMR) systems and communicate effectively with team members and families
- Support residents’ social engagement through recreational activities and community outings
Skills
- Proven experience in assisted living, long-term care, or home & community care environments
- Knowledge of dementia care, Alzheimer's care, memory care, geriatrics, and behavioral management techniques
- Ability to perform CPR and First Aid confidently; certification preferred but training available
- Familiarity with medication administration procedures and safe patient lifting practices
- Strong communication skills for effective client interaction and team collaboration
- Experience working with individuals with disabilities or developmental challenges in group home or residential settings
- Ability to operate vehicles responsibly; clean driving record required
- Physical stamina for heavy lifting and manual handling tasks; capable of standing or walking for extended periods
- Comfort working in diverse environments including retirement homes, personal care homes, or community-based settings
