What are the responsibilities and job description for the Culinary Assistant position at Grand Lake Health System?
Hours of Job
- Full-Time 11:30 AM-8:00 PM
- Every Other Weekend and Holiday Rotation Required
Duties and Key Responsibilities
- Plans production activities (and/or assists co-workers, as needed) to ensure appropriate and timely production of food to fulfill menu requirements.
- Portions/serves food neatly and attractively.
- Maintains established portion control when portioning/serving foods.
- Covers, labels, and dates all opened, prepped, or leftover food items placed in storage.
- Prepares food items according to standardized recipes; produces a quality product.
- Checks temperatures of food products to verify that cooking and holding temperatures are within acceptable ranges; corrects temperature problems.
- Maintains frozen and refrigerated food storage area by assisting with storing deliveries, rotating stock, on a FIFO method, and keeping walk-in freezer and coolers neat and orderly.
Requirements
- Weekend rotation
- Flexibility in scheduling to meet department needs.
Education/Certifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
Experience
- Quality cooking experience preferred; food service experience preferred.
