Position Summary: The Process Safety Management (PSM) Lead is responsible for implementing, managing, and continuously improving Process Safety Management programs in compliance with OSHA 29 CFR 1910.119 and EPA Risk Management Program (RMP) 40 CFR Part 68. This role identifies process safety risks in chemical manufacturing operations and develops mitigation strategies to ensure safe and compliant operations.
The PSM Lead collaborates cross-functionally with Production, Engineering, Technology, and EHS teams to enhance safety performance, lead incident investigations, and ensure adherence to internal and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
· Develop and maintain Process Safety Management programs in compliance with OSHA and EPA regulations
· Define, track, and analyze process safety metrics to improve performance
· Facilitate Process Hazard Analysis (PHA) programs and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements
· Implement PHA recommendations to mitigate process risks
· Lead incident investigations and root cause analyses for process safety events and near misses
· Support Management of Change (MOC) and Pre-Startup Safety Review (PSSR) processes
· Enhance contractor management and safety programs
· Provide technical support for EHS systems, including MOC processes
· Collaborate with project teams to integrate process safety into design and execution
· Develop and deliver process safety training programs
· Partner with global technical teams to improve safety awareness and performance
· Implement safety standards for hazardous processes (e.g., flammable materials, combustible dust)
· Prepare reports and presentations on process safety performance
· Monitor regulatory changes and update programs accordingly
· Lead continuous improvement initiatives for process safety and operational excellence
· Propose innovative solutions to address safety challenges
Qualifications:
· Bachelor’s degree in science, preferably Chemical Engineering
· 10–15 years of experience in EHS, Engineering, or related fields
· Minimum 5 years of progressive Process Safety Management experience
· Strong knowledge of OSHA PSM and EPA RMP regulations
· Experience with MOCs, PHAs, RCAs, and PSSRs
· Understanding of chemical process hazards (flammability, toxicity, reactivity, corrosivity)
· Experience conducting process safety training
· Strong risk assessment and hazard analysis capabilities
· Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)

· Preferred Qualifications:
· Experience with HAZOP, What-If, LOPA, and/or QRA methodologies
· Emergency response experience
· Familiarity with NFPA 30
- Experience with WinCC or similar systems
· Knowledge of SAP
· Certified Safety Professional (CSP) certification
Physical Requirements:
- Work Environment: This position operates in a hybrid work environment, including both office and industrial plant settings. Regular interaction with manufacturing environments is required.
- Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including safety boots, helmet, goggles, respirator, gloves, and protective clothing
- Physical Demands: Ability to move through plant facilities and navigate industrial environments
- Occasional lifting of up to 50lbs and carrying may be required
