Position Overview
The CAD Designer / CAD Detailer role focuses primarily on creating 2D and 3D drawings in support of steel detailing and sheet metal fabrication. Our projects span a wide range of industrial and commercial environments, including hog processing and food processing facilities, steel mills, grain facilities, and commercial and residential buildings.
This position works closely with project managers, engineers, and fabrication teams to produce accurate drawings for shop fabrication and installation. Financial exposure in this role is limited and generally related to material pricing and basic fabrication price, not full project budgets, or financial management.
Core Responsibilities
· Engage with customers regarding design and drawing needs
· Manage customer expectations throughout project execution
· Prepare detailed drawings in coordination with Project Managers and Superintendents
· Perform material take-offs for accurate estimating
· Solicit competitive quotes from subcontractors and vendors
· Produce accurate and timely:
o Work orders
o Timesheets
o Change orders
o Project reports
· Take ownership and accountability for decisions and actions
· Assist in developing project schedules (material procurement focus)
· Conduct quality control inspections on assigned work
· Maintain organized records of estimates and project involvement

· Weekly alignment with leadership (VPs) on priorities and scheduling
· Timely and accurate customer proposals

Qualifications
· Proficiency in AutoCAD
· Proficiency in Inventor
· Proficiency in SolidWorks
· Experience with 2D/3D design
· Strong attention to detail and accuracy
· Excellent organization and time management skills
· Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
· Valid driver’s license
· Ability to access job sites for field measurements

Pay: $30.00 - $33.00 per hour
