Role Description
This is a full time, on site role for a Staff Accountant based in Desert Hot Springs, CA. The Staff Accountant will support the accounting team with the monthly financial close, cost and inventory accounting, account reconciliations, financial reporting, and day to day accounting activities.
Qualifications
- Support the monthly, quarterly, and year end financial close process
- Prepare journal entries, accruals, account reconciliations, and balance sheet support
- Assist with cost accounting, including inventory valuation, COGS analysis, production costs, and inventory reconciliations
- Analyze inventory activity, production costs, yields, and cost variances
- Work closely with operations to ensure accurate recording of inventory and production activity
- Assist with physical inventory counts and inventory reconciliations
- Prepare financial reports and assist with analysis of account and operating variances
- Support accounts payable, accounts receivable, and other general accounting activities as needed
- Assist with internal controls and internal and external audit requests
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis as needed
- Maintain accurate accounting records in accordance with GAAP and company accounting policies
- Assist with improvements to accounting processes, systems, and financial controls
- Work closely with the Assistant Controller and other members of the accounting team to resolve accounting issues and ensure timely and accurate financial reporting
- The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation in general accounting with an interest in developing experience in cost and inventory accounting. Experience in manufacturing, cultivation, agriculture, distribution, or another inventory intensive environment is preferred.
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred
- 3 years of accounting experience preferred
- Experience with general ledger accounting and account reconciliations
- Cost accounting or inventory accounting experience is a plus
- Strong Excel skills and experience with ERP or accounting systems
- Strong analytical, organizational, and problem solving skills
- Detail oriented with the ability to work independently and meet deadlines
Salary range: $75K - $85K
