Job Summary
Grambling State University invites applications for a 9 month tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Curriculum and Instruction. This position will teach a variety of courses offered by the department at the undergraduate and graduate levels with a focus on Literacy Development and Elementary Education. The candidate must demonstrate interest in the areas of pedagogy, grant writing, research and publication, and other scholarly activities sufficient to warrant consideration for tenure. The successful applicant should have specialization in the area of Reading and Elementary Education. Preference will be given to candidates with a strong understanding of the factors involved in literacy development who have demonstrated scholarship as a literacy leader and who have knowledge of the International Literacy Association and/or other reading organizations, meeting accreditation requirements and state accountability measures. Preference will be given to candidates with three or more years of successful teaching experience in PreK-6 environment. The candidate must be eligible for Graduate Faculty Status, and online teaching. Teacher certification is preferred.
Job Duties & Responsibilities
The successful candidate will be expected to:
Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction;
Advise students, as well as promote, plan, implement, and assess those activities consistent with the enhancement and development of candidates in the programs in the department;
Engage in research and scholarly activities;
Work to maintain SACSCOC and CAEP Accreditations;
Serve on various Departmental, College and University Committees;
Attend all University, College and Departmental faculty meetings, convocations, commencements, and official functions of the University;
Perform other tasks that may be assigned by the Head of Department of Curriculum and Instruction and the Dean of the College of Educational & Graduate Studies
Qualifications
Minimum:
Ph.D. or Ed.D in Education or closely related field.
Three (3) or more years of k-12 teaching experience is required.
Must meet SACSCOC and CAEP requirements
Preferred:
Three or more years of successful teaching experience in PreK-6 environment
Eligible for Graduate Faculty Status, and online teaching
Teacher certification
