Job Description:

The Utility position supports essential bulk and packaging operations in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Responsibilities include operating industrial equipment, performing quality and safety checks, and executing sanitation and loading procedures for finished products. Candidates must be safety-focused, dependable, and capable of working in physically demanding conditions, including extreme temperatures and heights. This role is critical to maintaining efficient production flow and upholding product quality and regulatory compliance standards.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

Packing

• Fill and seal bags; select proper bins, bags and coding; properly load and seal trucks and boxcars; stack bags and clean work areas.
• Operate all packing systems, stretch wrappers, palletizer, forklift and yard tractor.
• Follow directions and perform other tasks as directed by lead packer or supervisor.

Bulk

• Properly inspect and clean rail cars and inspect trucks prior to loading; select bins for loading correct weights and product into cars and truck; sample, fumigate, and seal all loads prior to shipment per instructions.
• Operate car mover and bobcat in a safe manner; operate scale to obtain correct weight; complete paperwork accurately.
• Clean up all work areas, follow directions and perform other tasks as directed by lead packer or supervisor.
• Report any infestation and/or contamination to ensure Grain Craft produces and ships a quality product.
• Must report all accidents and near misses to create a safer work environment at Grain Craft.
• Must perform safety and sanitation audits with supervisor as required.
• Must check and record all magnets, metal detectors, rebolt sifters, and tailings as required.
• Perform all other duties as assigned.
• Perform work per the assigned on site schedule.

Qualifications

Required:

• Able to work a flexible work schedule and overtime when needed.
• Able to read, write, and communicate effectively.
• Need to be safety conscious.
• Need to have the capability to work in a team environment.
• Need to be capable in working in hot environment.
• Must be willing to learn and perform all aspects of the packing and bulk operations.

Preferred:

• Previous experience working in a food manufacturing facility is a plus

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:

• Physically able to work outside, climb ladders and lift 100 lbs., tolerate dust and high or low temperature.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly
• Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and kneeling
• Comfortable working at heights and on ladders or scaffolding
• Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for operating tools and machinery
• Tolerance for noisy, dusty, or hot/cold environments
• Ability to wear required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and respirators
• Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to identify mechanical or safety issues
• Stamina to work 12-hour shifts or rotating schedules as needed
