Job Description:
The Maintenance Technician is responsible for ensuring the reliable operation of plant equipment and systems in a manufacturing environment. This position performs routine and advanced maintenance tasks, adheres to strict safety and food safety guidelines, and supports operational excellence through mechanical troubleshooting, repair, and preventive maintenance. Ideal candidates will demonstrate a strong commitment to safety, environmental compliance, and continuous improvement while working across all areas of the facility—including at heights, in confined spaces, and in varying environmental conditions. Successful performance in this role directly contributes to consistent product quality and operational reliability.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities:
- All job duties require attention to safe operation and demonstration of safe work habits and behaviors. This includes the use of appropriate personal protective equipment for the job task.
- Observe all Safety and Food Safety guidelines and adhere to all company rules and policies as well as good manufacturing practices.
- Ensure facility is operating according to all EPA regulations
- Works at all areas of the plant including, indoors, outdoors , confined spaces, and working at heights with the proper PPE.
- Operates fork trucks, skid loaders, telehandlers, and aerial lifts.
- Complete any and all other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Manager.
- Commitment to supply safe food, maintain a food safety culture within the site, continually improve the site's food safety management system; and comply with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Completion of an apprenticeship program after hiring.
- Additional duties as requested or assigned.
- Perform work per the assigned on site schedule
Qualifications
Required:
- 3 years of equivalent maintenance experience.
- LOTO training and experience required.
- Ability to read and understand SOP’s, prints and manuals required.
- Good organizational and communication skills required.
- Ability to troubleshoot and repair mechanical equipment required.
- Able to drive a fork truck safely required.
- Must be able to proficiently read and write in English for the purposes of record keeping and safety training and processes.
- Attention to detail, mechanical aptitude, good verbal and written communication skills required.
- Demonstrated ability to work in a safety conscious environment required.
- Maintenance aptitude test with passing result required to be considered for this position
Preferred:
- Basic PC/Laptop hardware & software knowledge and experience preferred.
- Experience as a welder. Able to weld regular steel preferred.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENT:
- Frequent standing, walking, bending, squatting, and kneeling
· Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds regularly and up to 100 pounds semi regularly
- Comfortable working at heights and on ladders or scaffolding
- Manual dexterity and fine motor skills for operating tools and machinery
- Tolerance for noisy, dusty, or hot/cold environments while wearing appropriate PPE
- Ability to wear required PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, ear protection, and respirators
- Visual acuity and hearing sufficient to identify mechanical or safety issues
- Stamina to work 12-hour shifts or rotating schedules as needed
