Grafton Transfer LLC is looking for a reliable, safety-focused CDL Truck Driver to join our team transporting steel coils locally throughout Northeast Ohio.

This is a local driving position with no overnight travel. The ideal candidate is an experienced professional who takes pride in safe driving, proper load securement, customer service, efficient paperwork management, while maintaining their equipment.

This position is physically active and requires someone who is comfortable working around steel coils, loading docks, cranes, forklifts and other industrial equipment.

What You Will Do

• Safely transport steel coils to and from customer and industrial locations.
• Perform required pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections.
• Properly position and secure coils using appropriate chains, binders, straps, blocking, chocks, dunnage and other approved equipment.
• Inspect load securement before and during transportation as required.
• Verify coils identification, quantity, weight and condition against shipping documents.
• Assist with loading and unloading activities as required.
• Complete bills of lading, delivery tickets, receipts and other paperwork.
• Obtain delivery signatures and communicate delivery status.
• Maintain accurate mileage, inspection and delivery records.
• Keep the truck and equipment clean, organized and in safe operating condition.
• Communicate promptly with the Owner/Operator regarding delays, damaged freight, vehicle issues or safety concerns.
• Represent Grafton Transfer LLC professionally when interacting with customers, vendors and other business partners.
• Follow all applicable OSHA, FMCSA, Ohio and Grafton Transfer LLC safety requirements.

• Valid CDL appropriate for the truck being operated.
• Safe and acceptable driving record.
• Ability to pass applicable DOT/driver qualification requirements.
• Dependable attendance and punctuality.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to complete moderate paperwork accurately and on a timely basis as required.
• Professional communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to work independently.
• Ability to safely work around heavy steel products and industrial equipment.
• Ability to perform the physical requirements of the position, with or without reasonable accommodations.

Preferred Skills and Qualifications

• Previous steel coil hauling experience.
• Previous flatbed or specialized freight experience.
• Experience with steel coil securement.
• Experience working around cranes, forklifts or steel mills.
• Familiarity with Northeast Ohio industrial routes.

Physical Requirements

• Climbing in and out of the truck and trailer.
• Standing, walking, bending, stooping and reaching.
• Handling chains, binders, straps, dunnage and other securement equipment.
• Working outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Working around heavy trucks, cranes, forklifts and other industrial equipment.
• Performing loading, unloading and securement related activities.

The driver will not manually lift or move steel coils. Steel coils must be loaded and moved using appropriate equipment and safe operating procedures.

Work Schedule

• Full-time
• Local routes
• Home every night
• No overnight travel
• Schedule based on customer delivery requirements.

Reporting Relationship

This position reports directly to the Owner/Operator.

Pay: $1,400.00 - $1,500.00 per week
