What are the responsibilities and job description for the Interpreter Pool position at Grady Health System Careers?
SUMMARY
Provides language interpretation in accordance with national standards and code of ethics for interpreters in health care. Promotes equal access to services and effective communication between Grady staff and providers and the Limited English Proficient and deaf/hard of hearing patients and their families. Flexibility to cover different shifts and days required.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High School Diploma is required.
- Must have completed formal medical interpreting training/program.
- Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics, Spanish or related field is preferred.
- Experience in culturally diverse health care environment performing interpreting functions is preferred.
- Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish.
- Must have broad knowledge of medical terminology and culture.
- Basic computer skills
- Certified Medical Interpreter (CMI) or Certified Health Care Interpreter (CHI) certification
