JOB TITLE: Literacy Coach REPORTS TO: Principal

LOCATION: Must be able to commute to the Little Rock, AR campus daily.

STATUS: Open until filled. Target Start Date: As soon as possible


TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: Commence July 1, 2025 through June 30, 2026. Compensation will be prorated based on the hiring date and successful completion of the background check. Benefits package offered. NOTE: Precise placement within the salary range will be determined based upon education and experience.

POSITION SUMMARY: Graduate Arkansas, Inc. is seeking an experienced Literacy Coach to provide instructional leadership in reading and writing across all content areas while maintaining teaching responsibilities. The Literacy Coach will collaborate with teachers to improve literacy instruction, implement evidence-based reading strategies, analyze literacy data, and model effective teaching practices. This position requires teaching English Language Arts classes while also providing professional development, classroom support, and individualized coaching to enhance student literacy achievement throughout the school.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Teach assigned English Language Arts classes, delivering engaging literacy instruction aligned with state standards
  • Provide instructional coaching to teachers across all content areas to integrate literacy strategies
  • Analyze reading assessment data and student writing samples to inform instructional planning
  • Develop and facilitate professional development on reading comprehension, writing instruction, and vocabulary development
  • Model research-based literacy strategies through demonstration lessons and co-teaching opportunities
  • Support implementation of literacy curriculum and intervention programs across grade levels
  • Collaborate with teachers to design literacy-rich lessons that promote critical thinking and text analysis
  • Assist in selecting appropriate reading materials and resources for diverse learners
  • Guide teachers in implementing differentiated literacy instruction for various reading levels
  • Coordinate literacy initiatives including reading programs, writing workshops, and school-wide literacy events
  • Maintain documentation of coaching cycles, teacher observations, and student literacy progress
  • Participate in Response to Intervention (RTI) meetings and support literacy interventions
  • Stay current with literacy research and share best practices with staff


QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in English, Reading Education, or related field (required)
  • Master's degree in Literacy, Reading Specialist, or Curriculum and Instruction (preferred)
  • Valid Arkansas Teaching License with appropriate endorsement
  • Reading Specialist certification or willingness to obtain (preferred)
  • Minimum of 3-5 years successful teaching experience in English Language Arts or Reading
  • Demonstrated expertise in literacy instruction, assessment, and intervention strategies
  • Experience in coaching, mentoring, or leading professional development
  • Knowledge of adolescent literacy development and content area reading strategies
  • Strong understanding of data-driven instruction and literacy assessment tools
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills for working with diverse stakeholders
  • Proficiency with educational technology and digital literacy tools
  • Valid Arkansas driver's license
  • Ability to work in various educational settings with physical requirements including sitting, standing, classroom visits, and occasional lifting of instructional materials


This position combines literacy teaching expertise with instructional leadership to advance reading and writing achievement across all content areas while maintaining direct classroom teaching responsibilities.
