About the student
- 11th grade student at elementary/preschool level
- The family would prefer (if possible) a bilingual tutor in Spanish & English to make communicating with Mom & Grandma easier.
- The student is in 11th grade but at a elementary/preschool level. She is nonverbal but able to hear. She currently knows about 300 words in ASL and is working toward fluency. As a nonverbal autistic individual with mild dissociative identity disorder, she would benefit from a tutor who can provide consistent support and reinforcement in her primary and sole form of communication.
- The student's goal is to improve her communication.
- The family wants 2 hour sessions 3 times a week.
- The family is seeking a tutor who can meet at their home in Valley Center.
Qualifications
- Ideal candidates have prior experience working with autistic students.
- Ideal candidates will have prior experience teaching/tutoring ASL.
- Willing to travel within your preferred local radius to meet the student (typically 5-10 miles)
- Due to insurance requirements, applicants must not be a minor.
Student Availability
MON: 9:00am-6:00pm
TUE: 11:00am-6:00pm
WED: 2:00pm-6:00pm
THUR-SAT: 9:00am-6:00pm
