Human Resources – Payroll Specialist
Location: Jacksonville, FL (Hybrid: 2-3 days in office)
Duration: 12 months
Hourly Rate: $20/hr
Summary:
The Payroll Specialist is responsible for performing payroll-related functions accurately and on time, ensuring compliance with company policies, union agreements, and applicable laws. This role requires attention to detail, strong customer service skills, and proficiency in payroll systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Process assigned payrolls timely and accurately using integrated HR/payroll systems.
- Enter and verify employee time, balances, pay rates, and tax information.
- Review system edits and ensure corrections are made.
- Maintain detailed knowledge of union contracts and prepare union benefit or other third-party payments.
- Provide high-level customer service by responding to payroll inquiries and resolving issues.
- Document existing and new processes.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- 1–2 years of general accounting or related financial experience.
- 1–3 years of payroll experience with mainframe or client-server systems preferred.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint).
- Experience with Oracle Payroll HCM and ADP Smart Compliance.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) required.
