Job Responsibilities
The Janitorial Services Technician will help maintain a clean, sanitary, safe, and professional healthcare environment. Duties include:
- Sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming floors
- Cleaning and disinfecting patient rooms, offices, common areas, restrooms, and specialty rooms
- Sanitizing high-touch surfaces, including door handles, light switches, countertops, desks, tables, and chairs
- Cleaning toilets, sinks, showers, mirrors, dispensers, and restroom partitions
- Emptying trash and replacing liners
- Cleaning break rooms, kitchen areas, laundry rooms, hallways, entryways, and administrative areas
- Restocking soap, paper towels, toilet paper, and other supplies
- Performing floor care and assigned deep-cleaning duties
- Following infection-control procedures, safety requirements, and facility cleaning standards
- Reporting maintenance concerns, safety hazards, and supply shortages
Skills
- Must be dependable and able to work independently
- Must maintain a professional appearance and conduct
- Must follow all safety, infection-control, and facility procedures
- Must be able to complete all required onboarding and credentialing
- Must pass a criminal background check
- Must pass a drug screening
- Must have reliable transportation to the Columbia worksite
- Prior commercial, healthcare, or janitorial cleaning experience is preferred
Work Environment: This position is located inside an inpatient behavioral-health facility. Employees may encounter patients who are distressed, verbally disruptive, confused, or exhibiting unpredictable behavior. Candidates must be able to remain calm, maintain professional boundaries, follow staff directions, protect patient confidentiality, and respond appropriately without confrontation.
