We are seeking compassionate and dedicated Direct Support Caregivers to provide essential care and support to individuals in need. As a Direct Support Caregiver, you will play a vital role in enhancing the quality of life for clients by assisting them with daily activities and promoting their independence. This position requires a strong commitment to patient care, empathy, and the ability to work effectively in various settings, including home care, community care, and nursing homes.
Responsibilities
- Provide personal care assistance, including bathing, grooming, dressing, and toileting.
- Support clients with mobility and lifting as needed to ensure their safety and comfort.
- Assist with meal preparation and feeding when necessary.
- Engage clients in meaningful activities that promote social interaction and mental stimulation.
- Monitor clients' health status and report any changes or concerns to the appropriate healthcare professionals.
- Maintain a clean and safe living environment for clients.
- Ensure compliance with HIPAA regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information.
- Provide companionship and emotional support to enhance clients' well-being.
- Document care provided accurately in accordance with company policies.
- Follow individual service plans (ISPs) and adhere to company and DDA/DIDD policies.
- Document services and progress notes accurately and timely, in accordance with state regulations.
Requirements
- Previous experience in caregiving or related fields such as home community care, hospice care, or dementia care is preferred.
- Strong understanding of patient care principles and practices.
- Ability to lift clients safely and assist them with mobility challenges.
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to build rapport with clients.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations regarding patient privacy is essential.
- Compassionate nature with a genuine desire to help others improve their quality of life.
- Flexibility to work various shifts as needed, including evenings and weekends.
- Certification in CPR/First Aid is a plus but not mandatory.
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid driver's license and reliable transportation preferred.
- Must be able to pass a fingerprint-based background check through TBI/IdentoGO.
