About the Job
As a Veterinary Assistant, you will be responsible for ensuring that clients and their pets receive excellent care at every visit. You will be expected to:
- Assist veterinarians in appointments and surgery.
- Perform technical duties such as venipuncture, catheter placement, proper restraint, collect and prepare laboratory samples, radiographic positioning, dental prophylaxis, and anesthetic monitoring.
- Provide client education in pet care, so you must be well versed in regards to various medical procedures and preventive care for pets.
- Perform reception duties such as answering phones, scheduling appointments, performing financial transactions, and assisting clients as necessary.
Who We’re Looking For
- Caring, compassionate, and motivated individuals who thrive in a fast-paced environment
- 1-2 years of previous experience in a veterinary hospital setting as a technician or assistant is preferred
- Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Must be dependable with a strong work ethic and a willingness to learn
- Someone with good observational skills and attention to detail
- A high school diploma or equivalent is required
- A 2 or 4 year degree in a science-related field is preferred
- The ability to meet the physical demands of working a 10 hour shift standing, squatting, walking, lifting and carrying 50 lbs unassisted
- Someone who is comfortable and able to work with all breeds, temperaments, and sizes of dogs and cats
