Since 1962, the Lutheran Community at Telford has provided exceptional services for seniors located in Bucks and Montgomery Counties. Telford offers a full continuum of care, from independent residential cottages and convenient apartment homes to comfortable personal care accommodations. Shepherd Way memory support neighborhood and our Healthcare Pavilion give individuals access to the health care and support they need at all hours. The dedicated staff ensures that residents enjoy the best quality of life while maintaining the highest possible level of independence.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ensure the provision of direct ministry to residents of both campuses, their loved ones, and when appropriate to staff, fostering a warm, positive environment. Provide liaison with the religious community and administer the Pastoral Care Department.
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
40% Provide spiritual service and crisis counseling to the residents, families, and employees of the community.
8% Oversee the scheduling of the Chapel and worship services on both campuses in conjunction with the Activities Director & Life Enrichment Director. Coordinate and encourage clergy and pastoral visitors from the community.
5% Supervise the pastoral volunteers to support regular worship and bible study opportunities.
10% Develop, in conjunction with Life Enrichment and Activities Departments, educational opportunities and excursions that encourage residents to explore their spiritual foundations.
7% Visit new residents shortly after admission into the community and record a spiritual assessment. Attend care plan meeting for skilled residents at both communities.
5% Visit with the supporting Mennonite & Lutheran churches and provide outreach services based upon their need.
12% Manage, direct, and supervise the pastoral staff and interns (when applicable) of both campuses. Provide proper orientation and training, scheduling and distribution of work. Conduct annual employee reviews and provide general oversight.
5% Plan and lead (in conjunction with part-time assistants) worship services for special occasions, such as mid-week Advent/Lent services, Easter Sunday, funerals, annual service of remembrance, etc.
5% Visit hospitalized residents.
1% Prepare the department’s annual budget request and monitor monthly to department financial statements.
2% Attend meetings and in-services as required. Provide in-service training to staff in areas related to the spiritual and emotional needs of residents. Chair Ethics Committee.

Position Requirements
Education: Master of Divinity or the equivalent and at least four units of Clinical Pastoral Education
Experience: Three to five years pastoral care; chaplaincy experience preferred
Professional Membership, Licensures, Certifications: Adjudicatory endorsement. Valid PA driver’s license.
Language Ability:
Ability to relate to people effectively with sensitivity, understanding and compassion. Maintain an open door policy for residents, families and staff to address questions and concerns without feeling uncomfortable. A high degree of confidentiality is required.
This individual must be able to speak and write the English language in an understandable manner in order to communicate with residents, employees, family members, volunteers and the public.
Math Ability:
Basic math capabilities including addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
Reasoning Ability:
Ability to set priorities, plan and organize duties. Detail oriented and possesses sound judgment to moderate meetings and maintain accurate files. Ability to document and follow-up on resident needs. Maintain an awareness, interest and motivation for the care of seniors. Maintain the resident and employee’s right to confidentiality.
Computer Skills:
Basic computer abilities utilizing word processing software.

Works in office areas and resident centered areas. Heavy interaction with residents, families, managers, staff, volunteers and the general public. This position will work Sunday through Thursday. The Lutheran Community at Telford maintains a no tipping policy. Honorariums would be considered a tip and as such would not be permitted.
