Facilities Director

Grace Fellowship Church is prayerfully searching for our next Facilities Director to lead our facilities team and help us manage and care for our buildings, properties and related vendors. The ideal candidate will be a Jesus follower with a passion for supporting the church’s mission of sharing the gospel, as well as a proven track record of success in leading the facilities functions.

The Role

The Facilities Director manages the facilities and physical grounds of Grace Fellowship Church including responsibility for campus maintenance, janitorial, critical infrastructure (HVAC, mechanical, electrical, plumbing), utilities, security/life safety, property insurance, and management of construction, renovation and expansion activities from concept to completion. 


The Facilities Director leads the facilities team, under the leadership of the Operations Pastor providing subject matter expertise to collaboratively reach church goals and objectives. This role is both hands-on and supervisory while working on site at our office in Katy, Texas.

Responsibilities

Strategic Financial Management: Develop, meticulously monitor, and manage the annual operating and capital improvement budgets for facilities. Partner with the Operations Pastor to strategically plan and execute both short-term and long-term facility objectives. 


Vendor and Project Oversight: Review and present detailed cost estimates and bids for routine maintenance and complex construction projects. Exercise sound judgment in approving expenditures, proactively identifying and explaining budget variances. 


Team Leadership and Development: Lead, mentor, and develop the facilities maintenance staff, including all aspects of hiring, training, performance evaluation, and disciplinary actions. Model emotional health and continued spiritual growth. Foster a culture of relational discipleship within the team. 


Project Management Excellence: Effectively manage and schedule ongoing maintenance and renovation projects to minimize disruption to ministry activities. Conduct thorough inspections of work sites and facilities to ensure adherence to quality standards. 


Construction and Renovation Leadership: Oversee all facets of renovations and new construction, ensuring the efficient allocation of resources and providing expert guidance on both in-house and contracted construction efforts. 


Strategic Vendor Partnerships: Cultivate and manage strong business relationships with external contractors, including but not limited to construction, landscaping, janitorial, engineering, mechanical, and electrical firms. Provide informed recommendations and actively participate in the selection process. 

Proactive Maintenance and Efficiency: Direct a cost-effective preventive maintenance program for all equipment and facilities, establishing and managing a clear priority system for addressing deferred maintenance needs. 

Championing Safety and Compliance: Maintain and enforce a robust safety-conscious work environment. Consistently model and uphold all safety policies, procedures, and best practices, including the proper use of protective equipment. Ensure facilities staff are thoroughly trained on and follow safety protocols. 

Emergency Preparedness: Serve on the Emergency Preparedness Team, partnering to maintain and share the emergency procedures manual and develop best practices for various emergency situations. 

Multi-Campus Responsibility: Effectively manage facilities responsibilities across our campuses: Cinco Ranch and North Katy, ensuring consistency and excellence in facility operations. 

Direct Supervision and Guidance: Provide clear direction, mentorship, and supervision to the Facilities Maintenance Technicians, overseeing their responsibilities, including: 

  • Electrical and lighting maintenance
  • General construction, renovations, and painting
  • Fire and security safety systems
  • Event setup and tear-down
  • Regular maintenance and monitoring
  • General repairs and upkeep
  • Preventative maintenance schedules
  • Plumbing system maintenance
  • HVAC system maintenance
  • Janitorial services
  • Moving and logistical support
  • Work order management 
  • Signage maintenance and updates

  

Updating Board of Directors: Attend quarterly Board of Directors meetings, quarterly Board Facilities Team breakout meetings and annual congregational meetings. 

Adaptability and Growth: Embrace other job-related duties as needed to support the overall mission and operational needs of the church.

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (e.g., Facilities Management, Engineering, Construction Management) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 10 years of experience in facilities management.
  • 5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role.
  • Active involvement (staff or volunteer) in a church or non-profit organization.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft 365 Office Suite.
  • A strong desire to become an actively engaged member of Grace Fellowship Church, making it their regular place of worship.

Additional Information

  • Salary & Benefits: The salary will be commensurate with experience. This position is an exempt, salaried position. Grace Fellowship’s benefits are outlined in the Employee Handbook, but currently include paid vacation, church-paid health insurance for employee-only coverage, life insurance, long & short-term disability insurance, and a 403(b) plan.
  • Working Hours: The Facilities Director is to develop a working schedule that maximizes both time with family and productive time accomplishing the job. The position is a minimum of 40 hours per week. 
  • Work Authorization: The Facilities Director must be authorized to work in the United States under Federal requirements.
