Assistant Early Learning Center Director
Reports To: Early Learning Center Director
Status: Half-Time Exempt (25–30 hours per week, flexible based on need)
Compensation: $28,000-$32,000 yearly salary
Schedule: Weekly schedule is variable within center operating hours (7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), with flexibility as needed. Summer hours increase as responsibilities increase.
Location: Grace Chapel Early Learning Center – Prosper, TX
Position Summary
The Assistant Early Learning Center Director provides direct support to the Director by ensuring that daily operations, teacher performance, and classroom environments align with Grace Chapel’s mission and the Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.Serving as a bridge between the Lead Teachers and the Center Director, this role focuses on teacher management, compliance accountability, and supply coordination. The Assistant Director helps translate the Director’s vision into consistent classroom practice, fostering a culture of excellence, safety, and belonging for children and staff alike.
Key ResponsibilitiesTeacher Management & Support
- Supervise, coach, and support Lead Teachers and Assistant Teachers to maintain consistent quality and care across classrooms.
- Serve as the primary bridge between the Director and teaching staff—facilitating communication, alignment, and accountability.
- Conduct regular classroom walk-throughs and provide constructive feedback to teachers.
- Support staff orientation, training, and performance feedback in collaboration with the Director.
- Model effective classroom management, instructional practices, and team collaboration.
- Work with teachers to effectively implement curriculum in the classroom. Make decisions about curriculum needs in collaboration with ELC director and all teachers.
- Help maintain a positive, professional, and mission-driven workplace culture.
Compliance & Accountability (Minimum Standards)
- Assist the Director in maintaining full compliance with Texas Health and Human Services (HHS) Minimum Standards.
- Monitor classrooms daily for compliance with safety, supervision, and ratio requirements.
- Maintain current staff files, child records, and licensing documentation.
- Conduct periodic internal audits and prepare documentation for inspections.
- Ensure proper reporting and documentation of incidents, illnesses, and injuries.
Supply & Resource Coordination
- Manage classroom and office supply inventory to ensure teachers have necessary materials.
- Process teacher supply requests and coordinate timely purchasing in a cost-effective manner.
- Monitor classroom environments to ensure materials are safe, developmentally appropriate, and replenished regularly.
- Coordinate with custodial and facilities staff to maintain classroom readiness and cleanliness.
Family & Program Support (Secondary Functions)
- Support communication with parents when needed, maintaining a professional and welcoming tone.
- Serve as the on-site point of contact in the Director’s absence.
- Assist with family engagement events, chapel experiences, and seasonal celebrations.

Summer Camp Coordination
- Work alongside ELC Director and Business Manager to implement 8-week summer camps.
- Serve as lead manager in the absence of ELC Director (up to 35 hours per week).
- Maintain current duties completed throughout the school year
- Coordinate with ELC Director and Business Manager to facilitate registration for summer enrollment
- Implement curriculum for weekly camps/care.
- Schedule staffing based on enrollment, in collaboration with ELC Director.
Qualifications
- Associate’s degree in Early Childhood Education or related field required (Bachelor’s preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in early learning or childcare, including supervisory or lead teacher experience.
- Working knowledge of Texas Minimum Standards for Child Care Centers.
- Currently holds or has ability to obtain Director’s Certificate from State of Texas Childcare Regulations within 6 weeks.
- Strong organizational and interpersonal skills with attention to detail.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, motivate, and support staff while upholding accountability.

Working Conditions
- Primarily on-site during center operating hours (7:30 a.m. – 5:30 p.m.), with flexibility as needed.
- Must be able to stand, sit, bend, and lift up to 40 lbs.
- Occasional evening hours for family events, staff meetings, or training sessions.
