Custodian

NOTE: THIS JOB WILL BEGIN IN DECEMBER OF 2025

Overview:

Grace, a United Methodist Congregation/GraceKids Child Development Center are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Custodian to join our team. As a Custodian, you will be responsible for maintaining cleanliness and orderliness within our facilities. This is an important role in ensuring a safe and comfortable environment for our staff and visitors. This role will also require light maintenance responsibilities.

Hours:

- This is a part-time position with some flexability. Hours may be worked in the morning or afternoon, Monday-Thursday. The church must also be cleaned on Saturdays so that it is ready for worship and classes on Sunday. The exact time of day for cleaning is negotiable.

Responsibilities:

- Clean and sanitize restrooms, classrooms, offices, and other areas as assigned

- Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors (this will require lifting stackable chairs, carrying and stacking large 8' tables, and some heavy lifting)

- Empty trash receptacles and replace liners

- Dust furniture, fixtures, and equipment

- Clean windows, glass surfaces, and mirrors

- Setup rooms for worship, meetings, classes and other functions

- Maintain inventory of cleaning supplies and notify supervisor when replenishment is needed

- Perform routine maintenance tasks such as changing light bulbs and repairing minor damages. This will often involve using a ladder.

- Light outdoor work such as weed control, pressure washing, leaf blowing (we have a lawn service already)

- Laundry for GraceKids CDC (preschool)

- Follow established safety procedures while handling cleaning chemicals and operating equipment

- Adhere to company policies and regulations regarding cleanliness standards

Experience:

- Previous experience in custodial or janitorial roles preferred

- Knowledge of proper cleaning techniques and use of cleaning equipment

- Familiarity with floor care including buffing, stripping, waxing, and polishing

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision

- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

- Attention to items that need to be addressed for cleaning, repair, or replacement

- Excellent time management skills to ensure tasks are completed efficiently
