As Production Planner, you will be responsible for accuracy and control of inventory, releasing and managing production workorders to ensure that the company operational needs are met and tracking the accuracy of inputs into the ERP system daily. This role will require using judgement, ingenuity, critical thinking, and the ability to manage projects.
Additionally, this role will be back up support to the shipper and receiver, entailing extensive documentation and highly fragile handling of our customers’ products. Support will also be given to the quality team for final packaging prior to moving to shipping queue.
This full-time, exempt role will be in our Salem, NH facility and will report to the Materials and Planning Manager.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Communicate any supply problems. which may pose a risk or impact on business operations.
- Research and evaluate areas of opportunity and reduce costs where possible.
- Become subject matter expert for GPD’s ERP system (Visual) and train staff on best practices when handling and
- Work closely with GPD’s operations, manufacturing, engineering, shipping and quality teams to support business objectives.
- Work collaboratively when engaging with stakeholders to develop positive relationships.
- Control of raw materials and part kitting according to MRP / planning.
- Full control and management of work orders from release to final inspection including full auditing of operators’ entries and documentation.
- With direction from operations management, data entry of reorder points, safety stock levels, and support of effective demand planning with valued suggestions and inputs.
- Full support for final packaging as needed.
- Support of Cycle Count activities to maintain established key performance measurements.

- Previous experience with shipping and receiving small packages a PLUS
- Previous experience with international shipping lanes and laws a PLUS
- High School Diploma (or equivalent)
- 24 years of experience in inventory control, MRP, and/or production planning.
- Ability to add value, reduce costs and make business improvements.
- Computer literate, including advanced Excel skills.
- Able to lift up to 30 lbs
- Ability to stand, walk, and/or sit for extended periods of time.
- Proficiency in using hands and arms to manipulate tools and equipment.
- Comfortable wearing personal protective equipment, including safety glasses and hearing protection.
- Ability to thrive in a fastpaced production environment with tight deadlines.
- Previous experience in optoelectronics or microelectronics industry a plus
