As a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, you will be instrumental in providing support and guidance to individuals battling addiction. Reporting to the clinical supervisor, your role will involve conducting patient assessments, facilitating intake processes, and delivering evidence-based behavioral therapy. Utilizing core skills such as addiction counseling and medical documentation, you will create personalized treatment plans. Your premium skills in crisis intervention and group therapy will enhance patient care, while relevant skills in cognitive behavioral therapy will aid in effective behavior management. 1. Provides case management and individual and group counseling for an assigned caseload of participants.

2. Create, updates, and maintains case records on each assigned participant and a timely and thorough basis.

3. Conduct intake assessment based on state-approved assessment

4. Completes comprehensive assessment of clients’ substance use history and develops individualized treatment plans.

5. Utilize crisis intervention techniques as emergency situations arise.

6. Attend supervision, team meetings, and state-required trainings.

7. Maintain appropriate ethical and clinical boundaries with participants and staff.

8. Attend Monthly Staff Supervision

9. Complete 30-90 day follow up calls for all discharged clients and document outcome in HER.

10. Duties and responsibilities may be added, deleted or changed at any times by the supervisor either verbally or in writing, but not without notifying the employee.

Qualifications

  • Proven experience in behavioral therapy and addiction counseling
  • Strong skills in patient assessment and care
  • Proficient in medical documentation and terminology
  • Familiarity with HIPAA regulations
  • Experience with intake processes and documentation review
  • Ability to conduct group therapy and crisis intervention
  • Knowledge of cognitive behavioral therapy techniques

1. Educational requirements

Must have a master’s degree in counseling, psychology, or human services with minimum of one year of experience working with substance use disorder and/or Mental Health population.

2. PA State Police Criminal background check, Current Child Abuse Clearance if children are a part of GPASS and FBI clearance if you live out of state or have not lived in Pennsylvania for at least the last 3 years.

3. Must complete ASAM Training within 1 year of hire

4. Basic ability to work with computer and necessary software typically used by the department

5. Good interpersonal and organizational skills

Job Type: Part-time

Pay: $20.00 - $30.00 per hour
