This is a hybrid position, combining time in the Tampa office with the flexibility of working from home.
What You'll Do
- Handle civil appeals before Florida's District Courts of Appeal, the Supreme Court of Florida, and federal appellate courts, including the Eleventh Circuit
- Research, draft, and edit initial, answer, and reply briefs, petitions for extraordinary writs, and motions for rehearing
- Present oral argument before appellate panels
- Review trial records to identify and develop issues for appeal
- Advise trial teams on error preservation, dispositive and post-trial motions, jury instructions, and appellate strategy
- J.D. from an accredited law school
- Member of The Florida Bar in good standing
- 5 years of appellate experience, or civil litigation experience with a substantial appellate component
- Exceptional legal research, writing, and editing skills
- Thorough knowledge of the Florida Rules of Appellate Procedure and the Federal Rules of Appellate Procedure
- Oral argument experience preferred; Board Certification in Appellate Practice by The Florida Bar is a plus
- Competitive base salary of $175,000 to $215,000, commensurate with experience
