Responsibilities
- Assist new hires by connecting them with subject matter experts and relevant references to support their technical work.
- Contribute to developing requirements for Fall Projects and Summer Intern projects.
- Help improve workforce development strategies by supporting teaching methods and project structuring to balance training and valuable data generation.
- Develop and review tutorials related to Naval Architecture and Marine Engineering deliverables in early-stage ship concept design, including:
- Stack Up Length
- Concept of Operations – Operational Views
- Selection of Parent Hulls for Parametric Estimation
- Floodable Length
- Area and Volume Estimation
- Weight and Stability Estimation
- General Arrangements
- Resistance and Powering Estimation
- Propulsion Architecture selection
- Electric Power Load Analysis and Genset selection
- Intact and Damage Stability
- Seakeeping
- Support standardizing expectations for early-stage ship design deliverables.
- Participate in reviews of project deliverables.
- Collaborate with stakeholders such as ONR, DARPA, SNAME, and NAVSEA to stay informed on innovative and emerging technologies.
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related engineering discipline
- 4–7 years of relevant experience in naval architecture or marine engineering, with design and architecture focus
- U.S. citizenship
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret security clearance
- Experience mentoring junior personnel or peers
- Strong organizational, communication, and teamwork skills
- Master’s degree in naval architecture, marine engineering, or related discipline
- Experience collaborating with government or defense stakeholders
