Position Summary
Provides complete oversight for Childbirth Education Program and Maternal Health Advocate role. Evaluates, coordinates, implements and maintains all policies and procedures pertaining to scheduling, marketing and conducting classes for a comprehensive childbirth education program. Assesses class participant needs and appropriate teaching methods to assure effective childbirth education is provided. Provides private appointments and hospital tours. Maintains office hours at OB office to meet with patients. Maintains program content according to the requirements published by the American College of Obstetrics and Gynecology and the Association of Women’s Health, Obstetric and Neonatal Nursing. Participates in the selection, orientation and evaluation of childbirth education instructors. Coordinates instructor work schedules along with the necessary equipment and supplies to conduct assigned classes and other childbirth education activities in the community. Tracks Birthplace delivery statistics and audits charts reporting findings to OB Leadership as needed.
Minimum Education:
Registered nurse with a valid Indiana State RN license.As of May 2021, Colleagues hired with an associate degree must enter a BSN program within 2 years of hire and earn their BSN from a NLN or CCNE accredited program within 5 years from date of hire.
Effective February 2021, Colleagues hired with an associate degree and 10 or more years of nursing experience may be exempt from completing a BSN program.
Preferred Education:
Minimum Experience 3 years experience in obstetric nursing within the last 5 years, preferably at Goshen Health.
Preferred Experience Experience in community health nursing and childbirth education is desirable. Experience with Microsoft Excel, Powerpoint and Canva preferred.
Certifications Required Must be currently certified in CPR.
Certifications Preferred Current certification as a Childbirth Educator is preferred.
