Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and customer-focused Service Advisor to join our automotive service team. In this vital role, you will act as the primary point of contact for customers bringing their vehicles in for maintenance and repairs. You will utilize your mechanical knowledge, automotive diagnostics skills, and familiarity with estimating software to accurately assess vehicle issues, recommend necessary repairs, and upsell additional services. Responsibilities
- Greet customers warmly, listen attentively to their vehicle concerns, and gather detailed information about their service needs
- Conduct thorough vehicle inspections using automotive diagnostics tools and mechanical expertise to identify issues such as transmissions, brakes, suspension, or engine problems
- Prepare accurate repair estimates utilizing estimating software and communicate these clearly to customers
- Recommend additional services or repairs based on vehicle condition, upselling where appropriate to enhance customer value and dealership revenue
- Coordinate with technicians to prioritize work orders and ensure timely completion of services such as oil changes, tire service, alignments, or collision repairs
- Maintain detailed documentation of all customer interactions, repair orders, and service histories in the dealership management system
- Handle cash transactions securely and process payments efficiently while ensuring excellent client communication throughout the service process
Skills
- Proven experience as a Service Advisor or in auto service management within a dealership environment
- Strong mechanical knowledge with hands-on experience as a mechanic or service technician preferred
- Proficiency with estimating software and computer-aided vehicle damage estimating tools
- Excellent customer service skills with the ability to communicate technical information clearly and professionally
- Knowledge of automotive diagnostics, auto body repair, collision repair, transmissions, diesel engine repair, air brake systems, shocks & struts, suspension systems, and other automotive repair areas
- Ability to upsell services confidently while maintaining integrity and customer trust
- Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record; ability to drive various vehicle types including trucks with air brakes or diesel engines
- Experience with auto estimating processes such as service writing and auto sales is advantageous
