The Legal Secretary provides administrative and case support to the legal team by assisting with claim setup, medical record management, document organization, and maintaining accurate case information within the firm's case management system. This role requires strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment.
Duties & Responsibilities
- Open new claims with insurance claim professionals and verify claim information.
- Request and obtain medical records from healthcare providers and medical facilities.
- Order liens from healthcare providers, government agencies, and other lien holders.
- Monitor and follow up on outstanding lien requests to ensure timely receipt.
- Save, organize, and transfer documents into designated electronic case folders.
- Communicate professionally with medical providers, insurance representatives, and lien holders regarding requests and follow-ups.
- Assist attorneys, paralegals, and legal assistants with additional administrative tasks as assigned.
- Ensure confidentiality of client information and maintain compliance with firm policies and procedures.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; associate degree or legal studies coursework preferred.
- Previous administrative, legal, or medical office experience preferred.
- Strong computer skills with the ability to quickly learn new software and online portals.
- Experience with case management software is a plus.
- Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Outlook, and Excel).
