What are the responsibilities and job description for the Student Worker: Alumni Engagement Assistant position at Gordon Conwell Theological Seminary?
This position is for eligible, current students enrolled at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary.
The Alumni Engagement Assistant works with the Senior Director of Alumni Engagement to serve and support our 13,000 Gordon-Conwell Alumni. This is a part-time student employment position for 8-10 hours per week, year-round.
General Responsibilities:
• Gather information and complete writing projects for the Alumni Newsletter, alumni spotlights, and other communications
• Assist in planning and executing Alumni events
• Send information to, and respond to inquiries from, alumni via email and phone
• Assist in maintaining the Alumni section of the Gordon-Conwell website
• Utilize Raiser’s Edge (the alumni database) to update records, conduct searches, and perform various data clean-up and analysis projects
• Other projects as requested
Qualifications:
• Excellent communication skills – The Alumni Engagement Assistant will have the opportunity to represent not only the Alumni office, but also the seminary. Since this position requires significant written and oral communication, it is essential that applicants have a pleasant and professional demeanor, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to articulate clearly in verbal and written English.
• Strong administrative/organizational skills – This is an administrative position which requires significant attention to detail, an ability to prioritize and organize, a capacity for multi-tasking, and flexibility that allows one to work in a team setting and to collaborate with various departments (President’s office, admissions, communications, development, faculty, etc.).
• Technical capabilities – Applicants should be proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Database, website, basic graphic design, and/or event planning experience is a plus. Willingness and capacity to learn software programs is required.
• Experience working in an office setting or in a customer service role preferred
• Availability – Student must be able to commit to 8 hours per week consistently throughout the year, with flexibility around vacations, finals, intensive courses, etc.
