Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Machinist/Toolmaker to join our dynamic manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for fabricating parts, and maintaining precision tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, and machine parts to support our production processes. Your expertise in machining techniques and technical drawing interpretation will ensure the highest quality standards are met. The ideal candidate is highly skilled in precision machining and capable of independently producing complex parts from engineering prints while maintaining extremely tight tolerances and high-quality workmanship.
Duties
- Manufacture precision components from technical drawings, schematics, CAD models, and prints
- Operate manual and/or CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and related shop equipment
- Most tolerances are /-.005", but occationally may need to hold tight tolerances including bore tolerances of ±0.0005" and maintain positional accuracy of ±0.001".
- Perform precision measurement and inspection of machined parts
- Use standard machinist measuring tools accurately and consistently
- Assist with tooling, fixture building, and prototype development
- Work closely with engineers and assembly technicians on custom automation machinery
- Perform welding and fabrication work when needed (preferred but not required)
- Maintain organized and safe work areas
- Utilize precision measuring instruments like calipers, micrometers, and dial gauges to verify dimensions and ensure adherence to specifications.
- Fabricate parts using hand tools, welding techniques, fabrication equipment, and stamping presses while maintaining safety standards.
- Conduct routine maintenance on machinery and troubleshoot issues promptly to minimize downtime.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to develop prototypes, improve existing tooling, and implement manufacturing improvements.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of conversational CNC programming, and a bonus would be CNC programming with G-code.
- Bonus would ne experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM).
- Ability to read schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical specifications accurately.
- Skilled in using precision measuring instruments including calipers, micrometers, dial gauges, and other precision tools.
- Mechanical knowledge of manufacturing processes including tooling design, fabrication, assembly, and machining techniques.
- Familiarity with GD&T principles to ensure parts meet tight tolerances; experience with CAM programming is a plus.
- Bonus would be the ability to welding using various techniques; experience with fabrication tools and hand tools essential for assembly tasks.
- Strong math skills for calculations related to machining dimensions and tolerances; ability to interpret schematics effectively.

Pay: $30.00 - $40.00 per hour
