A leading national Design-Build general contractor specializing in Department of Defense and federal construction projects is seeking an experienced Safety Trainer to join its regional operations team in Jacksonville, FL.
This full-time position plays a pivotal role in cultivating a strong safety culture across self-perform and field operations. The Safety Trainer will design and deliver hands-on, in-person training for craft and staff personnel, ensuring full compliance with OSHA, EM 385-1-1, and federal safety standards. Candidates with both construction field experience and formal safety training expertise are highly encouraged to apply.
- Conduct engaging, in-person training on:
- First Aid / CPR
- Fall Protection & Rescue
- Confined Space Entry
- Forklift and Aerial Lift Operations
- Excavation & Trenching Safety
- Hazard Communication and related topics
- Support safety onboarding for new employees and deliver recurring refresher courses.
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date safety training records.
- Partner with project and regional safety leaders to identify training needs and compliance gaps.
- Serve as a field-level safety resource, providing on-site support when necessary.
- Model a proactive, safety-first approach aligned with company standards and regulatory requirements.
- Contribute to continuous improvement and process standardization initiatives across regional projects.
- 5 years of commercial construction experience, including at least 5 years in construction safety management.
- Valid OSHA 500 Instructor Certification.
- OSHA 30-Hour and/or EM 385-1-1 40-Hour (completed within the last five years).
- Hands-on operational experience with forklifts, aerial lifts, and other powered industrial trucks.
- Competent-person training or equivalent experience in:
- Fall Protection
- Confined Space
- Electrical Safety
- Trenching/Excavation
- PPE and Scaffolding
- Strong written and verbal communication skills; ability to train and engage diverse workforces.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with digital safety management systems (e.g., HammerTech, Power BI, Adobe Build).
- Regional travel expected for site visits
- Bilingual (English/Spanish)
- Prior trade experience (carpentry, electrical, concrete, or mechanical).
- Experience with NAVFAC, USACE, or EM 385-1-1 compliance.
- Professional safety certifications (CSP, CHST, OHST, ASP).
- Salary Range: $80,000 – $120,000 based on experience.
