Position Overview
A growing immigration law firm is seeking an Immigration Paralegal to join its Charleston office. This position is ideal for a highly organized, client-focused professional who is passionate about helping individuals and families navigate the immigration process.
The successful candidate will work closely with attorneys and clients, assisting with case preparation, document collection, government filings, and client communication. Spanish fluency is strongly preferred, and Portuguese language skills are a significant plus.
Responsibilities
- Prepare and file immigration petitions and applications with USCIS, EOIR, DOS, and other government agencies
- Assist attorneys with family-based, humanitarian, removal defense, and other immigration matters
- Communicate regularly with clients regarding case status and document requirements
- Draft correspondence, forms, affidavits, and supporting documentation
- Maintain accurate case files and deadlines
- Track case progress and follow up on outstanding documentation
- Conduct legal and factual research as needed
- Assist with attorney preparation for hearings, interviews, and court appearances
- Provide exceptional customer service to clients from diverse backgrounds
- Previous immigration paralegal or immigration legal assistant experience preferred
- Knowledge of immigration forms and procedures, including USCIS filings
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines in a fast-paced environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office and case management systems
- Professional, compassionate, and client-service oriented approach
- Bilingual English/Spanish- a must!!!!!
- Portuguese language skills are a major plus
- Experience working directly with immigration clients
- Experience with family-based immigration, removal defense, asylum, naturalization, or humanitarian cases
