Job Responsibilities
Major Responsibilities:

Receiving & Sorting Donations: Receive, move, and place carts, containers, and barrels containing donations, trash, and As-Is items in designated processing areas. Weigh and track items where applicable. Sort all incoming donations and provide receipts to donors upon request.

Loading & Unloading: Unload trailers and transport products to the appropriate departments. Load trailers and trucks with products for shipping. Place appropriate storage labels on containers and boxes.

Inventory & Production Tracking: Track production output and monitor product levels throughout the day. Sort incoming and outgoing merchandise into proper receptacles for sale floor placement or return to the warehouse.

Customer & Employee Relations: Maintain positive relations with customers and employees. Report any issues or complaints promptly to the store manager.

Stocking & Merchandising: Assist with inventory management, display, merchandising, and the placement of stock on the sales floor. Perform stock rotation tasks and support the maintenance of the store’s appearance by picking/arranging merchandise and completing housekeeping tasks, including restrooms.

Safe Merchandise Handling: Familiarize yourself with proper handling techniques and equipment for safe product handling. Follow company policies and procedures to ensure safety.

Safety Awareness: Stay aware of potential hazards (e.g., damage, theft, safety issues) and report concerns immediately to the store manager.

Department Support: Stock designated departments for processing or sales and handle residual product removal for transport to the compactor or other departments.

Sales Floor Setup & Breakdown: Assist with setting up and breaking down the sales floor, including moving products, trash boxes, and handling furniture. Receive donations from the public.

Recycling Line Operations: When working on the recycle line, extract recyclable materials from the conveyor, remove full boxes, or operate the “tipper” to feed materials onto the line.

Vocational Services Support: Work with clients assigned for vocational services, as requested.

Other Duties: Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Requirements

Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition and subtraction) required.

Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs regularly, and occasionally heavier items up to 75 lbs with assistance or material handling equipment.
Preferred Qualifications/Experience

Proficient in the English language preferred

Experience in material handling
Equipment Used
-
Material handling equipment, including pallet jacks, electric walkie stackers, hand trucks, furniture dollies, and forklifts (if certified to operate).

Additional equipment such as watermelon boxes, plastic totes, and barrels.

Other tools include electric and manual hand tools.
Equipment Operation and Maintenance:

Operates material handling equipment such as forklifts, hand trucks, or pallet jacks to move, stack, or transport materials.

Inspect and maintain equipment regularly, reporting any malfunctions, damages, or safety concerns to supervisors.

Follow safety guidelines and protocols while operating equipment and ensure the use of personal protective equipment (PPE) when required.
Working Conditions

Work is primary done in a warehouse environment with constant standing and moving

Work is also performed outside at loading dock, and donation sites. The temperature and exposure to elements will fluctuate depending on weather conditions

There is exposure to dust and dirt as well as consist of forklift traffic

Work is completed independently but in cooperation with others. There is occasional contact with the public

The noise volume will vary throughout the day with exposure to both machine and forklift noise

Material handling equipment (forklift, hand truck, moveable containers) may be operated in or near work areas
Emotional Effort

Moderate: Occasional short deadlines. The work environment is occasionally hectic with occasional high activity, with great emphasis on teamwork.
Physical Requirements

The work pace is steady requiring lifting and/or carrying of up to 50 lbs consistently. On a regular basis heavier item of up to 75 lbs will be lifted. Heavy items will be moved either with assistance from another person or by using appropriate material handling equipment

Normal or corrected talking, hearing, and seeing abilities are sufficient to perform the required tasks

Mobility required walking up and down ramps and climbing in and out of trucks and walking on uneven ground
Pay Range
$18.45 hourly
